Homemade laser projector
Check this sweet laser projector project out:This is from the Instructables website.
The awesomeness of portable laser projectors is that they:
1) Can be projected large distances
2) Are very bright (as illustrated in the picture above)
3) They don't require any focusing what-so-ever!
This site looks to be sponsored in some way by the publishers of Make: Magazine and have a sister site Craft to go with Craft: Magazine. BTW the afore mention Make: Magazine was one of Warren's X-mas presents. I'm sure we'll be construction things in no time. Wheee!

$83,000 phone bill - another evolution in cell phone companies making you take it up the a$$
A Canadian oil-field worker was stunned to get a C$85,000 (US$83,700) cell phone bill. From what reason you might ask ... using his phone as a modem for his computer as part of his C$10 unlimited browser plan from Bell Mobility, a division of Bell Canada. He downloaded movies and other large files. Bell Mobility counters this claim by stating it is clearly stated in the contract that the plan is not for downloading computer files. As a consolation, no doubt because of the hoopla surrounding the story, Bell Mobility has since lowered the initial bill to C$3,400 as a gesture of "goodwill." As a side note Staniaszek does not want to talk to the press because he is afraid to use his cell phone thus incurring more long-distance charges.

Do our brains work like Google?
New Scientist finds that Google's search algorithm, PageRank, does in fact mimic that way our brains retrieves similar words. The study was published in Psychological Science (vol 18, p 1069). It looks like both search algorithms and scientists studying memory retrieval have something to learn from each other.

Spidery Scariness
Hanging above my head as I went to take out the trash.
Winter Spider
She silently slid on her tendril of web,
Her pale squashy and globulous body
Making its way to the gray hardness of the concrete slab below.
Blowing in the wet wind
She struggles to keep a steady pace
Down.
Thwarted by a straw broom
Tumbling
Early arrival at the intended destination
Too soon to the gray mark.
